Two people were injured and a boater faces impaired charges after a marine collision on Canal Lake in the City of Kawartha Lakes on Saturday.
OPP and paramedics responded around 3:30 p.m. Police say two boats were involved, one of them towing two people on a recreational water toy. Preliminary investigation shows that the boats swerved to avoid a collision but a boat struck the recreational water toy and its occupants.
A 15 year old boy and 22 year old woman from Pickering were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the boat towing the water toy was arrested at the scene.
Coal Hoare, 22, of Pickering, was charged:
– Operating a vessel while ability impaired causing bodily harm contrary to section 255(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
– Operating a vessel with over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood causing bodily harm contrary to section 255(2.1) of the CCCC
He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on Sept. 22.
The accident remains under investigation.
