Police catch domestic assault suspect after stopping erratic driver

While on the lookout for a suspect in a domestic assault involving a 22-year-old man and a woman in her late 20s – the victim – Peterborough police say spotted a vehicle driving “erratically” near Dutton Road. The alleged assault had happened in a Langton Street parking lot in Peterborough and the male suspect had left the area in a vehicle.

Officers who stopped the vehicle near Dutton Road administered a breathalyzer that they say showed the driver had three times the legal limit of blood alcohol in his system.peterborough police


He was arrested and charged with impaired driving, operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mg blood alcohol content and failing to comply with a probation order. He was later charged with domestic assault and failing to comply with a probation order. The accused was held in custody. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.
