Local business expo returns to Morrow Building

The Morrow Building was packed with bright ideas and sales pitches this afternoon…
As the annual Love Local Business Peterborough Expo returned for another year.
“We’re showcasing all the create innovation that is in the community, and we’re connecting commerce,” said event organizer Paul Teleki.
True to its title, the one day expo focuses on businesses within the Peterborough region….
a chance for those entrepreneurs to promote their products to new customers…
and other businesses.
“You know we do sell a little bit to the general public, but most of it is based on businesses, franchises, and associations, institutions as well,” Signarama’s Morgan Smith said.
The Love Local Expo isn’t necessarily about making the big sales right away.
Some of the 110 vendors say it’s all about getting your name out thereĀ for business deals that could be months down the road.
“I don’t see a surplus of business immediately, but what I do see is the business I do get for the following year, people are coming to me and saying, ‘oh I got your information from here,’ or, ‘a friend saw it at the show,'” said Tyler Rushlow, with Gliding Cabinet Solutions.
The expo doesn’t focus on one type of business.
Organizers say they’ve embraced a broad interpretation on the word “entrepreneur” this year,
to better showcase what the region has to offer.
“Every business innovates in their own way, whether it’s a furniture store or a retail outlet, or some kind of service based business, everyone brings their special touch,” Teleki said.
That even included food and beverage businesses…
Selling cold beer in the sweltering heat of the Morrow Building made the Smithhavens booth a popular place.
“We try to do as much local events as we can, so whenever people ask us to help out, we try to do what we can,” owner Randy Smith said.
