Drawings of what the new arena complex could look like are now public.
The city released the sketches with the announcement of a public meeting, scheduled for October 4.
That will be a time for the public to give feedback on the plans.
“The development of this project will meet the needs of the community in replacing the aging Northcrest Arena. The site at Trent has provided a unique opportunity to develop an arena complex that embraces the natural environment,” said Gillian Barnes, Project Manager, Facilities and Planning Initiatives.
Phil Fenech, Team Lead for Perkins + Will Architectsaid they first “listened to what the site” was telling them, and “imagined what the recreation programs could become.”
“I think we found an innovative approach that allows the community to connect to each other and to their environmental heritage,” he said.
The new complex is to be located on Pioneer Road. The meeting is at the Evinrude Centre on Tuesday Oct. 4, 2016 at 7 p.m.
