The City’s Arena, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee met tonight at City Hall to take a look at the design of the new arena complex to be built in Peterborough’s north end.
Lindsay Biscaia was there….
This is a rough sketch of the new arena complex that will be located at the intersection of Nassau Mills Road and Pioneer Road near Trent University.
Principle Architect, Phil Fenech, says this was the second presentation of two that Perkins and Will Consultants showed to the committee.
“Today what we did is we gave them an update on what the building looks like, how it fits on the site, how sensitive we are to the site.”
Fenech says they had the opportunity to tour the Evinrude Centre for inspiration.
“The focus groups that actually were held in the Evinrude Centre at one point they say come, we’ll take you on a tour of the Evinrude Centre of some of the things that we did well, and some of the things that we could do better.”
Like the Evinrude, the new complex will have twin ice pads.
But on top of that – it will also have a pool.
Fenech says after a few more steps.. the report will be taken to council in November.
