The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has seized more than 250 malnourished animals from an undisclosed farm in Kawartha Lakes.
OSCPA inspector Brad Dewar tells Newswatch that a search warrant was executed on Sept. 1. Officers removed 259 emaciated farm animals from the property.
The seizure included:
– 128 sheep
– 82 goats
– 15 chickens
– 9 ducks
– 4 cows
– 4 rabbits
– 3 alpacas
The animals are now under the care of the Kawartha Lakes Humane Society who have placed all the animals at a foster farm.
“They are on the road to recovery from their extremely low body condition,” Dewar stated.
No other details were provided. Dewar says the investigation is ongoing. He said additional information may be released next week.
