Province expanding sale of local cider and fruit wine at farmers’ markets

It’s going to be easier for residents to purchase Ontario fruit wines and craft cider following an announcement Thursday by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Jeff Leal. Steve Guthrie reports:

Speaking at Empire Cider Company in Codrington, Leal announced today the expansion of a program that puts the products of Ontario wineries and cideries into more farmers markets across the province.

In business for two years, Chris Macrea, co-owner of Empire Cider, says they sell their product at two farmers’markets as well as at their factory store and are ready to expand

According to the Ontario Craft Cider Association, having their members’ product available at farmer’s markets helps the public recognize its value.
