Driver injured, dog unharmed in rollover near Trent

Peterborough, ON, Canada / (CHEXTV)

A man was taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries but a dog was unharmed following a rollover in the city’s north end Monday night.

The crash happened around 5 p.m. on Nassau Mills Road near Trent University. The vehicle left the road and rolled up onto an embankment.

A golden retriever in the vehicle managed to escape unharmed and the dog was later located in nearby woods. It was placed in a police cruiser to be returned to its owner.

The road was closed for several hours and traffic was backed up with many Trent students returning from their long weekend.

Police say the 62-year-old driver has been charged with careless driving.
