Suddenly, it’s here.
Everywhere you look there are shades of orange, yellow and red. Fall has come to the Kawarthas.
“Well this time of it’s absolutely fantastic because the colours are coming in so vibrantly and vividly,” said Reece David, with Peterborough and the Kawarthas Tourism.
Peterborough and Kawarthas Tourism is taking advantage of autumn’s natural beauty…
On its website the organization lists driving and motorcycle tours for those looking to take in the autumn splendor at a leisurely pace.
“The entire area is stunning, to see the Lift Lock with all the vibrant colours around there. The fall driving tours around Stony Lake are absolutely incredible as well,” David said.
The tourism folks have created the hashtag #FallforPTBO as a way to encourage social media users to post fall pictures online using that hashtag.
The campaign is tied to a contest giving away three prize packages geared toward foodies….
Everything from a chance to dine under the water at Lock 21,
to an overnight stay and cooking lesson at Beachwood Resort.
“Its a great way to curate all the amazing photos people can take of the region right now, whether you are on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. That way people who are interested in the area can look at your photos using the hashtag fall for PTBO and see all the amazing things there are to see and do here,” David said.
And it seems that whether it’s the season’s bright colours, crisp mornings or autumn fare at the local farmer’s market, this season seems to strike a chord with almost everyone.
“Not too hot, not too cold, it’s just nice,” one Millenium Park walker said.
“There’s a certain type of warmth to the season that summer doesn’t have. It just brings people together, food, colours, warm drinks,” one woman said.
“Every day is like a painting when you go outside. It’s pretty unreal,” said one man.
“I really like all the produce…squash…all those root vegetables,” one woman
