Bucket of cocaine found on Armour Road

Two Peterborough residents have been charged after police discovered a bucket containing $100,000 in cocaine on Armour Road.

In late September 2016 officers located and seized a bucket that was buried in the area of Armour Road.  The bucket contained 2.1 kilograms (4.6lbs) of cocaine with a street value of approximately $100,000.

Through the subsequent investigation a male suspect was identified.

On October 13, 2016 members of the Peterborough Police Service’s Drug Unit executed a drug search warrant at a residence. Items including weigh scales, cellular phones, an amount of marijuana and a large quantity of cash were seized.

Shawn William Ward, 35, of Water Street, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule II substance (marijuana under 30 grams)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (Canadian currency)

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Oct. 14).

Jessica Alyssa Stammis, 25, of Water Street, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule II substance (marijuana under 30 grams)
  • Failing to comply with a probation order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 3, 2016.
