Updated: Man walks away from family, police called in to search

Dec. 28: Police have located the missing party safe.

Police continue to search for a missing Oshawa man who was last seen at the Oshawa Centre Tuesday.

Officers say Roberto Morales, 58, of Whitelaw Avenue was shopping with his family December 27 when he walked away at approximately 5 p.m. to be by himself.

When his family called to meet back up, he indicated that he wanted to be by himself and was going to stay with a friend. His cell phone turned off and he does not have his wallet or prescription medication with him. Family members and officers searched the mall and subsequent attempts by Durham Regional Police have failed to locate him.

He is described as an Hispanic man, 5′ 6″ tall, with a slim to medium build, bald head and a white goatee. He was wearing a dark blue toque, a blue and white knit Christmas sweater, dark grey jeans and black running shoes.

Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to call the DRPS at 1-888-579-1520. The lead investigator is Det. Sitaram at ext. 2741.
