Siblings squabble after snowmobile sinks

TRENT LAKES – A Trent Lakes teen took his anger out on his younger brother after his snowmobile was sunk on New Year’s Eve.

Around 10 p.m. on Dec. 31, Peterborough County OPP responded to a family dispute on Cedar Ct. near Bobcaygeon.

Police learned the younger brother had taken his older brother’s snowmobile onto open water and the vehicle sunk.

In response, the older brother repeatedly punched his sibling in the face, police said.

Investigators arrested an 18-year-old from Trent Lakes. He was charged with assault and breach of recognizance.

He was held in custody and will appear in court in Peterborough later today (Tuesday) for a show cause hearing.

The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
