The Peterborough Figure Skating Club first hit the ice in 1947 on a curling rink.
The club was founded by Ruth and Ernie Ferguson.
It seems many in the area wanted to skate as the Ferguson’s had to turn people away because there just wasn’t enough ice time for all of the people who wanted to sign up.
70 years later the club is home to over 200 skaters, young and old.
To mark the big 7-0 the club is hosting an ice show on March 24th
There will also be an open house on March 25th at the Peterborough Navy Club.
