Police target drivers who fail to stop for school buses

Peterborough Police are cracking down on motorists who fail to stop for school buses.
According to the Highway Traffic Act, unless there is a median, all traffic must stop, when a school bus stops with its overhead red lights flashing.
Regardless, if the stop sign is activated.
Failing to do this results in a $490 fine and 6 demerit points.

Police are also cracking down on school crosswalk infractions this month.
You must wait until the road is clear of pedestrians and the crossing guard before you proceed.
The fine for this is anywhere from $150-to-$500 dollars and three demerit points.
