King St. convenience store robbed; teen found with drugs at high school

The Peterborough Police Service is investigating an early morning robbery at a King Street convenience store.

On Thursday around 12:30 a.m., a male suspect walked into a convenience store located on King Street, selected some food items and then approached the til.

Once at the til the man demanded money and cigarettes from the employee behind the counter. The employee handed over an amount of cash from the register and cigarettes.

The man then fled the store on foot, last seen heading west on King Street.

The suspect is described as:
· Caucasian
· 35 to 40 years old
· Long face
· Wearing a hat
· Dark sweatshirt
· Dark pants

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Arrest:
A 15-year-old Peterborough teen has been arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana and psilocybin following a police investigation last month.

On February 22, police attended a local high school for a drug-related incident. Police received information that the youth was in possession of illicit drugs.

Officers located items in the accused’s possession including marijuana, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), and drug-related paraphernalia including electronic scales, a cell phone and cash.

The youth was arrested and charged with the following:

· Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking (marijuana under 3kg)
· Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking (Psilocybin)
· Failing to comply with a sentence

The youth was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 27.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

Domestic Assault Arrest:
The accused, a 28-year-old man, and the victim, a 23-year-old woman, are currently in a domestic relationship.

On March 8, at approximately 8 a.m. a witness walking in the area of Perry and Aylmer Street saw a man yelling at a woman and then assault her.

The concerned citizen called police to report the incident. Officers were dispatched to the area and located them near the area.

As a result of the investigation the man, of no fixed address Peterborough, was arrested and charged with domestic assault.

No names will be released to protect the identity of the victim, police said.
