A close call for emergency responders on Highway 401 near Grafton on Wednesday morning.
As a Hamilton Township fire truck was leaving the scene of an earlier crash, a speeding pickup truck nearly slammed into it and the median wall. No one was injured.
Just after 10 a.m., emergency services were called to the eastbound lanes by the Lyle Street overpass for a crash. A minivan struck a metal barrier and then entered a ditch. The driver and several children aboard were not injured.
Fire chief Kelly Serson says activated emergency lights mean drivers need to slow down and move to the opposite lane. Failing to do so could result in a $490 fine and three demerit points.
No charges have been laid yet but the investigation is ongoing.
