Public school parents in the Orono area who are looking for French immersion programming will have the chance to sign up closer to home.
The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board has announced it has established a new French immersion program at Newcastle Public School.
“Beginning in September 2017, this new program will allow French Immersion students from Kirby Centennial Public School/Orono Public School and Newcastle Public School to attend school closer to home,” the board states in a media release. Currently, these students attend Duke of Cambridge Public School in Bowmanville.
“We are excited by this opportunity for families in the Clarke catchment area to remain in the area in order to participate in the French Immersion program,” says Cathy Abraham, Chairperson of the Board. “We are also opening our doors at Newcastle Public School to encourage and welcome all new students interested in French Immersion programming to learn more about this opportunity.”
Parents can contact Newcastle Public School at 905-987-4262 for registration information.
