Running red lights is never a good idea, and Peterborough police are on the lookout for
Officers will be at the worst intersections in the city this month to watch for offenders. They issued 43 traffic tickets at those intersection in two days alone.
“We continue to see motorists failing to stop for both amber and red lights,” says Traffic Management Unit Sergeant Jeff Chartier.
“This not only puts other motorists at risk but also pedestrians and cyclists. Motorists are only permitted to enter an intersection when the light facing them is green.”
Fine associated with traffic light related offences include:
- $180 and 3 points for fail to stop for amber light
- $325 and 3 points for fail to stop for red light
