Peterborough City Police have confirmed the body found near the Otonabee River on a flooded portion of Mervin Line is that of 88-year old Allison “Al” Turner.
Police had earlier issued a missing person alert for Turner, who had last been seen Sunday evening. Police say at this time foul play is not suspected and the investigation has been turned over to the coroner.
Turner was reported missing last night after he failed to show up for dinner at friends house, the friend said it wasn’t like his friend to be late and so he became concerned with his whereabouts.
Monday just before 1 p.m. police received a call about a vehicle partially submerged along a flooded section of Mervin Line which was closed to vehicle traffic.
Forensics arrived on scene just before 3 p.m. as police and the fire department were already on location and had a boat deployed to aid in the investigation where turner was found dead.
The coroner left the scene around 3:30 p.m. and not shortly after a tow truck left with Turner’s brown Toyota Corolla.
The investigation is now in the hands of the coroner’s office.
