UPDATED: Suspect identified in Bridgenorth medical centre bomb threat

UPDATE FRIDAY, MAY 12:

OPP on Wednesday say a suspect in the Bridgenorth medical centre bomb threat case attended the detachment and identified herself to police.

Officers have arrested and charged Laura Ruth Scott, 30, of Peterborough, with Criminal Mischief.

She is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough, Ontario on June 08.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Police have identified a possible suspect in a bomb threat made to the Chemung Region Medical Centre in Bridgenorth on Monday morning.

Around 9 a.m., OPP responded to the clinic on Ward St. An extensive search of the building’s dental office and area revealed no bomb or suspicious package.

OPP investigations have determined that the threat originated at a pay phone at the intersection of Parkhill Road and George Street in downtown Peterborough.

Still photographs captured by a nearby video surveillance show an early model black Hyundai Santa Fe and a woman with blonde hair and dark roots.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and/or the person depicted in the photographs.

“This female may have key information in relation to the ongoing investigation,” OPP stated.
