UPDATED: Deliberately hurt muskrat succumbs to injuries

UPDATED WEDNESDAY: Officials say “George” succumbed to his injuries. A $1,000 reward is being offered for any information regarding the incident.

Original story:

George, a one-year old muskrat was turned over to Soper Creek Wildlife Rescue last night. The organization says a Port Hope woman was fishing in Gores Landing when she saw a group of teens throw a diaper box into the water; she says they were laughing as it went in.

Once the group left she checked out the box, and found, “George,” inside, barely moving. Soper Creek says the sides of his mouth were deliberately cut, his two top teeth were broken and his left eye was injured. He was taken to a vet, and made it through the night, though he remains in unstable condition.

Soper Creek is asking anyone with information to give them a call at (905) 442 – 1648
