RIDE check seizes more than 100 marijuana plants

CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES – A Bobcaygeon man was found with marijuana plants during a vehicle stop by OPP on Saturday.

City of Kawartha Lakes OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Kawartha Lakes Road 8, just outside of Fenelon Falls, when a vehicle approached the check point at approximately 9 am.

When stopped the officer observed marijuana plants inside the vehicle. Police seized 102 immature plants (a plant that is no taller or wider than 8 inches that is usually produced from a seedling or a clipping)

Brian Godwin, 69 was arrested and charged with producing a Schedule II substance (marijuana) contrary to section 7(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on July 6.
