She has three university degrees, and her husband is a successful medical researcher. Now a Syrian refugee with a background in education will start teaching a series of classes in ‘Basic Arabic’ in Peterborough. It would take almost four years after leaving war-ravaged Aleppo, before Joummana Mualem and her family would come to Canada, where they’d feel like peace may become part of their future lives. The journey began with the decision in 2012.
