Aviation celebration during Flying Fortress Week at airport

The Peterborough Airport will celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday with “Flying Fortress Week” – a display of vintage, military and civil aircraft.

The July 10-16 event will begin on Monday, July 10 with a Second World War B-17G Flying Fortress bomber named Sentimental Journey at the airport. Flights on the B-17 will take place on Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16th. Tickets for flights are available to purchase at:
www.azcaf.org/plane/b17g-flying-fortress/

On that weekend there will be other aircraft on display along with a fly-in and display by the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association.

The Loomex Group will also have their jet simulator on display and demonstrations. It’s used for large-scale emergency exercises that include airport staff and response agencies. The times for the exercises will be posted on the Peterborough Airport website at www.peterboroughairport.com.

The public can purchase tickets at the airport at 925 Airport Port for ground tours during the week. The event is sponsored by the Peterborough Destination Association (pdaptbo.com).
