Updated: Two arrested for vicious assault in Cobourg

Updated June 13, 6:05 p.m.:  Cobourg police say they arrested the second suspect June 13.


One Cobourg man has been arrested and another is being sought following a vicious weekend assault in downtown Cobourg.

Ontario Street was closed most of Sunday for a police investigation after a man was struck in the head with a weapon around 4:30 a.m.

Police say the 28-year-old victim from Cobourg was first taken to Northumberland Hills Hospital and then airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.

The investigation – which included assistance from Northumberland OPP – has led to the arrest Baylee Macfarlane, 18. He is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police have also issued a warrant for the arrest of  Brody James Redick, 20, on similar charges.
