A Toronto firm has won the competition for the installation of a monument honouring Canada’s peacekeepers in Peterborough’s new urban park on Charlotte street
The project is a cooperative effort between the city and the local chapter of peace keeping veterans. The sculpture by studio f minus is intended to convey the spirit of peacekeeping and the role Canada has played in bringing peace to the world. Two fourteen foot sculptures face each other creating a wall of mirrors effect. The artists say it brings to mind the borders in our lives, which we as Canadians can pass through easily, thanks to the efforts of the nation’s peacekeepers.
