Port Hope police officer faces disciplinary hearing

A Port Hope Police Service constable will face a disciplinary hearing next month following a number of alleged Code of Conduct violations.

Const. JoeAnn Kortman (Folan) faces 20 charges under the Police Services Act including Deceit, Insubordination, Breach of Confidence, Discreditable Conduct and Neglect of Duty.

She has been suspended from duties since last November following information brought to the attention of Port Hope Police Chief Bryant Wood.

A Chief’s complaint was made under the provisions of the Police Services Act and an investigation was undertaken.

In a release issued Thursday morning, police stated after an investigative report was reviewed by Wood, a number of Code of Conduct violations “were substantiated” and he ordered the hearing.

A hearing has been called for July with Hearing Officer Deputy Chief (ret.) Terrence Kelly and prosecutor Ian Johnstone to conduct the hearing. A date has yet to be set.

No other details have been made available.
