Assault with a weapon Arrest:
A Peterborough man has been charged with assault with a weapon after striking a man with a baseball bat on Sunday afternoon.
Around 4:20 p.m. police responded to a call for service in the area of Douro and Mark Streets regarding a physical altercation between two men who know each other.
Police arrived and were informed that one man struck a man in his 50s several times with a baseball bat. But the victim declined medical treatment.
Bradley Charles Wood, 28, of Highland Road, was charged with assault with a weapon.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on July 6.
Assault/Break and Enter Arrest:
A 33-year-old Norwood man has been charged following a domestic incident at a Peterborough residence.
The victim, a man in his 20s, is currently in a relationship with the accused’s ex-girlfriend.
On June 16, at approximately 7:30 p.m. it was reported that the accused entered the victim’s home through an unlocked door and confronted his ex-girlfriend and the victim, who are now in a relationship.
During the incident the accused wrecked the victim’s dinner and assaulted him. The accused then left the area.
Police were later advised of the incident and attended. Officers made contact with the accused over the phone advising him of the grounds for his arrest. On June 17, the accused attended the police station where he was placed under arrest and charged with the following:
• Mischief under $5,000
• Break and Enter
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 13.
The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic-based incident.
Domestic Assault Arrest:
A 28-year-old man was charged with domestic assault after a Friday evening incident.
The 28-year-old Peterborough man and the victim, a woman in her 20s, are currently in a domestic relationship.
On June 16, at approximately 8:30 p.m. police were called to the area of George Street regarding a man and woman involved in a verbal dispute.
A witness in the area at the time reported that during the dispute the accused assaulted the victim then fled the area.
That same evening the accused attended the Peterborough police station where, as a result of the investigation, he was placed under arrest and charged with domestic assault, fail to comply with a probation order and fail to comply with an undertaking.
The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on June 17, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (June 19).
The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident.
