Appeal Court snuffs out ‘Dragon Den’ suits given contestant consent form

TORONTO – Ontario’s top court has snuffed out lawsuits a disgruntled contestant filed against the television show “Dragons’ Den.”

The Appeal Court says John Turmel appeared on the CBC show voluntarily and signed a consent form that precluded his two lawsuits.

Turmel launched two suits – dismissed by lower courts – among other things arguing his reputation was smeared when the show’s panel of business tycoons savaged his ideas.

In his appeal, he said the consent form had been sprung on him at the last minute.

The Appeal Court found Turmel had adequate time to read the consent form.

It also noted he expressed no concerns at the time of signing.
