Trent University has received a unique gift from one of its graduates this Christmas season....

This sculpture, measuring six feet high and seven feet wide and weighing eight thousand pounds was transported from Bloomfield to the Symons campus today.  It's now situated on the slope between Peter Gzowski college and the chemical sciences building overlooking warren garden.  The sculpture, called "Portal" is made of black granite from Zimbabwe.   It was created and donated by Canadian artist and 1968 Trent alumnus David James....

Bravo, David!! Wonderful to see Portal lifted high over the landscape and buildings around Trent, then come to rest and remain as part of Canada's "national heritage". Marnie
