It all started when Iraq invaded its rival oil-exporting neighbour Kuwait in early Agust of 1990. The United Nations Security Council almost immediately imposed a trade embargo against Iraq and established a mid-January deadline for Sadam Husein to withdraw his forces. When he didn't, a thirty four country strong coalition force, including 36-hundred Canadian military personnel and led by the U.S, began a ferocious air bombardment of Iraq. Reaction to the war was swift and varied, as evidenced by the number of related stories CHEX News produced that month. In this item, local peace activists tried to make their point with the Peterborough M.P. Bill Domm.
