Michelle Ferreri
Co-Anchor/Producer: Newswatch @ 5:30

Michelle Ferreri Michelle's transition into television is an interesting one. While taking a break from University she pursued a talent agency in Toronto to fulfill her dreams of acting. In between trying to land gigs, Michelle began reporting and hosting for cable televsion in Peterborough. For more than three years Michelle was a key component of Cogeco's "Plugged IN", where she gained recognition for her candid weekly movie reviews as well as her zanny tactics while covering local events and charities. During that time Michelle earned her Biotechnician Diploma from Loyalist College and Bachelor of Science Degree from Trent University. A placement with the Ministry of Natural Resources Wildlife and Fisheries Genetic Biodiversity Lab at Trent University turned into employment and Michelle found the work fascinating and challenging, however longed for more public interaction. Taking regular jobs as an unqualified supply teacher Michelle loved the opportunity to work with students and learn. But it was an offer which came next that changed her life.

In the summer of 2003, Michelle accepted a part time videographer position with CHEX Television. The challenge was both overwhelming and addictive, she soon joined the Newswatch@5:30 team as a regular fill in host, anchor and producer. In 2005 Michelle spearheaded daily features dedicated to inform the viewer about current and controversial topics. She was awarded an honoroable mention for her poignant story on Huntington's Disease from the National chapter. Shortly thereafter she moved into the Newswatch@6 anchor chair and co-anchored the daily newscast. In 2008 Michelle landed an exclusive one on one interview with both Brenda Waudby and her teenage daughter Justine who had never until then spoken with any media about the murder of 21 month old Jenna Mellor, a provincial case which eventaully lead to the civil and legal scrutinization of child pathologoist Dr. Charles Smith.

Michelle is well known for her "love of the people" and committment to the community. In August of 2008 Michelle accepted a full time Co-Host position with Newswatch@5:30. She loves covering the “upbeat and informative” news with her co-host Teresa Kaszuba. From sipping high tea to operating a High Lift (used to demolish the hospital) you can expect Michelle to try anything.

When not in front of the camera Michelle enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies (a dedicated Will Ferrell fan) and googling "the next big thing" in music.
