Newswatch Staff Profiles Steve Guthrie Videographer Steve attended Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology where he was enrolled in the Radio and Television Broadcasting Program. After stints at CFJR-AM, Brockville and CHSJ-TV in Saint John, New Brunswick Steve arrived at CHEX Television in Peterborough. Steve has been employed by CHEX for 20 years, and over that time has filled a variety of roles. Originally he was hired as Studio Set Designer and Commercial Photographer, then later became a TV Operator. For a time, Steve cut, spliced and timed programs on 16 millimeter film as a Film Editor, followed by a transfer into the newsroom as an ENG photographer. Steve has been shooting news events for this past 10 years now, and performing videography (part time) for a year. (A videographer performs the dual functions of reporter, ENG cameraop and editor.) His favourite news stories to cover are "the ones where the story can be told by video and the voices of those involved, without narration by the reporter."
