I currently live in an apartment in Peterborough and I have a 4 month old daughter and I cannot believe that there a laws against smoking outside in parks, yet it is ok for us to have to inhale second hand smoke all day and night when we are in our own home. I find it so unfair for non-smokers who in my case, paying 1200.00/mth for a 3 bedroom apartment, have to lay in bed at night literally feeling ill because smoke is coming in through the doors and vents into our bedrooms. Of course in the summer opening windows to get fresh air in helps a little, it is at its worst when once temperatures drop, I honestly feel trapped in my own home choking on others peoples bad habits. I called my landlord to see if anything could be done about this and was told that basically there are no laws against smoking in your own apratment, it just cannot be done in hallways and elevators, this blows my mind!!! So again, I am stunned that there laws banning this outside but not indoors--- amazing!
