Barbecued Blueberry Grunt
This simple and delicious version of a down-east dessert is “baked” on the barbecue. Serve warm with ice cream or frozen yogurt. |

4 cups (1 L) 1/3 cup (75 mL) 1/4 cup (50 mL) 1/2 tsp (2 mL) Topping 1 cup (250 mL) 1/4 cup (50 mL) 2 tbsp (25 mL) 2 tsp (10 mL) 1 tsp (5 mL) 1/2 cup (125 mL) 1 2 tbsp (25 mL) |
fresh Ontario Blueberries orange juice liquid honey cinnamon all-purpose flour granulated sugar cornmeal baking powder grated orange rind milk egg butter, melted and cooled |

Place berries in ungreased 8-inch (2 L square) metal cake pan (or use double thickness disposable foil pans). Pour orange juice over berries. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Topping: In bowl, combine flour, sugar, cornmeal, baking powder and orange rind. In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg and butter; stir into flour mixture until combined. Spoon evenly over blueberries. Place on indirect heat of 350°F (180°C) grill. Close lid and bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving. |
