The driver of a junk removal truck has been charged after a crash on Water Street in Peterborough Wednesday morning.
It happened just before noon when the truck veered off the road and struck several hydro poles, snapping some into pieces.
The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries and later released.
Traffic was rerouted as police closed the street between Marina Boulveard and Langton Street. Peterborough Utilities was on scene and said residents along Langton and Oriole Drive would be without power Thursday morning as they conducted repairs.
Damage is pegged at $25,000.
The 18-year-old driver has been charged with careless driving. No name was released.
