A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing a criminal charge after a woman was struck and killed by a car along Lansdowne St. E. in mid-September 2016.
On the morning of September 15, a 53-year-old woman was hit by a motor vehicle while walking in the area of Lansdowne Street East between Ashburnham Drive and Television Road.
The vehicle also struck another vehicle.
She was airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Family and friends identified her as Leeanne McGuire, a mother of two grown daughter, who worked in the distribution department at the Peterborough This Week newspaper.
Both male drivers of the vehicles involved were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Peterborough Police accident reconstructionists have been investigating the incident.
Following their investigation, on Jan. 5, officers attended a Peterborough residence where the accused was placed under arrest.
Christopher Gerald Henry, 28, of Cornelius Court, Peterborough, is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
He was held in custody and appeared in court on Jan. 5.
