An OPP officer was taken to hospital after a collision on highway 401 near Grafton on Saturday.
It involved a three vehicle collision just west of Lyle Street. Two others were also taken to hospital.
The OPP SUV was stopped along the side of the highway to help another driver in a ditch when his car was sideswiped by a vehicle after the driver lost control.
The westbound lanes were closed for two hours extending from Cobourg to Brighton.
There were a number of crashes near Newcastle. OPP said up to 100 vehicles were involved in the collisions along a stretch of highway in Bowmanville. One included a jack-knifed and rolled-over tractor trailer. (video courtesy of Aaron C, YouTube)
