Damage is pegged at least half a million dollars after an overnight fire at the Public Works Department in Cobourg.
This morning staff discovered fire had destroyed one snow plow and smoke damaged five other plows which were all inside a building. Two sidewalk plows were also damaged.
There was also extensive smoke damage throughout the facility including offices.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation but the Cobourg Fire Department believes it may have been an electrical problem in the plow.
The town has borrowed a plow from Hamilton Township and are using smaller vehicles to salt its roads until the plow is replaced.
