The Peterborough Public Library Foundation Tuesday launched a fundraising campaign to provide furnishings for the Children’s Area in the newly renovated facility. The “Help the Children find a Seat” has set a goal to raise $25,000 by August 31.
“It’s an exciting time for the library,” says campaign chair Teresa Hamilton Kerr.
“This renovation is creating a larger space for children to learn and grow. However, with these upgrades comes the need for new and additional furniture. We want to ensure that children who visit the library have a place to be inspired about learning and an environment where all types of literacy learning can thrive. We are reaching out to the community in the hopes that together we can give the children that space in the Peterborough Public Library.”
Contributions to this campaign can be made by visiting the Library’s website, http://www.peterborough.library.on.ca and clicking on the ‘Donate Now’ button. Donations made online will receive an instant charitable tax receipt from Canada Helps.
Donations can also be made in person at the Peterborough Public Library, or via cheque mailed to the Peterborough Public Library Foundation, 360 George St N. Unit 21, Peterborough ON, K9H 7E7. Tax receipts will be mailed to donors for amounts of $20.00 or more.
In addition to this fundraising campaign, the Foundation is making a $250,000 donation to the Peterborough Public Library to aid with the reconstruction expenses.
Founded in 1995, the Peterborough Public Library Foundation handles bequests and donations made to the Library. It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and is a registered non-profit charity.
