Body of 15-year-old boy recovered from water in Fenelon Falls

The body of a 15-year-old boy was recovered from the water in Fenelon Falls around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

OPP were searching for a missing teen who was unaccounted for while swimming with friends on Saturday afternoon.

It’s believed the teen did not resurface after a cliff diving accident around 4 p.m. along the Sturgeon Lake side of the Trent Severn Waterway locks.

OPP got the call around 4:15 p.m. with reports of teens who were jumping into the water.

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Team worked with the Kawartha Lakes OPP and firefighters on Saturday to locate the body.

The teen’s body was located around 8:20 p.m. He was taken to Ross Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased around 11 p.m., according to the OPP.

On Sunday police identified the victim as Harley Broome of Fenelon Falls.
