Men arrested for cocaine trafficking; woman driving five times the legal limit

Drug Arrests:

A 25-year-old Lakefield man and a 27-year-old Hastings man are facing drug charges as a result of an ongoing investigation.

The two men were arrested on June 15 in the area of Monaghan Road and Lansdowne Street by members of the Peterborough Police Service’s Intelligence, Crime Analyst, Asset Forfeiture and Drug (ICAD) Unit.
During the investigation police located a quantity of cocaine and cash on both men. As a result of the investigation the following persons were arrested and charged:

Tony Morris, 25, of Coyle Crescent, Lakefield, is charged with the following:
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
• Possession of a substance – Lorazepam
• Proceeds of crime

He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (June 16).
Benjamin Brackenridge, 27, of Third Line in Hastings, is charged with the following:
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
• Proceeds of crime

He was released from custody on a promise to appear in court on July 6.

Impaired Arrest:
A 31-year-old Peterborough woman is facing several charges following a collision where she was found to have more than five times the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on May 31,  a motor vehicle collision took place in a Chemong Road parking lot in which the driver struck a parked car. The driver left the scene and parked her vehicle elsewhere in the lot.

Later when she returned to her vehicle, she was was confronted by the owner of the vehicle she had struck. During the confrontation it was reported that the accused, driving her vehicle, struck the complainant and hit another vehicle in the lot along with the shopping cart corral.

The complainant did not require medical attention.

The driver then fled the area in her vehicle. Police were called and attended the scene. Police found her at a Peterborough residence where she was placed under arrest.

She was transported to the police station and provided a breath sample where she was found to have more than five times the legal limit of alcohol in her system. She refused to provide further breath samples.

Natasha Maggie Davis, 31, of Neptune St., Peterborough, is charged with the following:

• Impaired driving
• Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
• Fail to stop at scene of accident
• Fail or refuse to provide breath sample

The accused was released from custody on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on June 29.

Drug Arrest:
A 33-year-old Dunsford man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop.

On June 7, 2017 at approximately 12:15 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Water and Dublin Streets. During the investigation officers located a quantity of cocaine in the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation John Hadfield, 33, of Kenhill Beach Road, Dunsford, Ontario, was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule I substance (Cocaine).

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 22.

Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose Arrest:
A Peterborough man has been charged with a weapons offence following a Thursday morning altercation.

On June 15, at approximately 11:40 a.m. the victim, a man in his 30s, was walking in the area of Brock Street when he became involved in a verbal argument with the accused that turned into a physical altercation. During the altercation it was reported that the accused brandished a knife.

Officers in the area at the time responded to the incident.

At approximately 12:15 p.m. that same day police located the suspect in front of a Brock Street address.

Joshua Christopher Geraghty, 20, of no fixed address, Peterborough, is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on June 15.

Use, deals, acts on forged document Arrest:
A Peterborough man and woman have been charged after attempting to cash a stolen cheque.

Between June 6 and June 8, it was reported that the female accused took a blank cheque from a Lansdowne Street East motel room.

The male accused then attempted to cash the cheque at two separate financial and loan services locations but was denied. Believing the cheque was stolen one of the financial outlets contacted police.

Through the investigation the co-accused were identified.

On June 14,  the male accused was located walking in the area of Stewart and Dalhousie Streets where he was placed under arrest.

On June 15, the female accused attended the police station where she was placed under arrest.

Mackenzie Douglas Atchison, 20, of Dalhousie Street, is charged with the following:

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
• Use, deals, acts on forged document X2
• Fail to comply with a probation order

Tessa Gail Sicard, 20, of Westcott Street, is charged with the following:

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
• Party to the offence – Use, deals, acts on forged document X2

Both were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on June 29.

Break and Enter Arrest:
A Peterborough man is facing additional charges following a December break-in at a local law office.

Between December 11 and December 12, 2016 a break and enter took place at a Sherbrooke Street law office building. Once inside items including a pair of hockey skates and binoculars were stolen.

Through the investigation, which included the use of the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto, the accused was identified.

The accused, who is in custody on other matters, is now facing additional charges.

Terry Pheap Thang, 30, of Walker Avenue, is charged with break and enter and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court later today (June 16).
